I left for another retreat last Friday. I arrived safely at Eagle Eyrie Conference Center nestled in the mountains in Lynchburg, VA.. Tucked away in the rolling mountains, I see why it’s known as the city of seven hills. By the afternoon tornado warnings and severe storms were moving through in Western VA right when the ladies arrived. Thankfully, all of them arrived safely with umbrellas intact! (Hum… I think this is the third retreat I’ve lead with severe storms on Friday and sunshine on Saturday and Sunday!)
God’s presence was among us as I lead the Rivermont ladies on a mini-retreat titled Praying through the Seasons of Life. The music was rich with special solos of voice and clarinet, which lead us right into God’s peaceful presence.
I had a beautiful view of God’s creation outdoors as I spoke, and of God himself through the loving warmth and embrace of the ladies. I was blessed by their vulnerability and humility as they came to me – seeking prayer with heartfelt concerns and sharing such a desire to grow to know God more fully.
On my drive home I turned off the music and sang my own songs to the Lord for how faithfully he answered our prayers – above and beyond! I met so many wonderful new friends from our time together at the Rivermont women’s retreat. The Lord has surely been good to me!
